From Mach Speed to the Main Stage
At 22, I put on a flight suit for the first time. I had no idea it would teach me everything I know about human behavior, leadership, and failure. The Air Force doesn’t coddle you — it throws uncertainty at you and demands a plan anyway.
Over 15 years flying the F-16, I was part of international squadrons — different nationalities, different cultures, completely different mental models — all forced to build radical trust, fast.
I also failed. Spectacularly. I missed targets, made poor decisions under pressure, and had to sit across from commanding officers and own it completely. Those debrief rooms taught me more about personal accountability than any book ever could.
